Holger Hestermeyer

Professor Holger Hestermeyer is Chair of International and EU Law at the Diplomatische Akademie Wien – Vienna School of International Studies, after serving at King’s College London. He specializes in international, EU, and comparative constitutional law, with a focus on dispute resolution and trade law. His research has earned awards like the Otto Hahn Medal and a British Academy fellowship. He advises governmental bodies, including the House of Lords EU Committees, and has held roles at the CJEU and Max Planck Institute.

Education includes a Doctor of Laws (2006) from Universität Hamburg, an LL.M. from UC Berkeley (2001), and a first legal state examination from the University of Münster (2000).

Research interests span WTO law, Brexit legal implications, and the intersection of human rights with trade frameworks. His recent work includes commentaries on WTO agreements and analyses of post-Brexit trade dynamics. He co-directs the Centre for International Governance and Dispute Resolution, fostering collaboration between academia and policymakers.
