Dr. Lei Guo is an Associate Professor of Emerging Media at Boston University's College of Arts & Sciences, Department of Computer Science. She earned her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014. Her research focuses on media effects theories, emerging media technologies' impact on democracy, and international communication dynamics. Dr. Guo co-proposed the Network Agenda-Setting Model, applying semantic network analysis, sentiment analysis, and data visualization in her work.
Her publications appear in leading journals such as Journal of Communication, Journalism Studies, and Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication. She co-edited The Power of Information Networks: New Directions for Agenda Setting (Routledge) and contributes to book chapters on U.S. and Chinese journalism.
