Lee White

Dr Lee White is a Horizon Fellow and Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney's School of Social and Political Sciences. Her research focuses on energy transition governance, climate change mitigation, and equity in energy systems. She holds affiliations with the Sydney Centre for Healthy Societies, Sydney Environment Institute, and Net Zero Institute.

Her work employs mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative) to analyze energy policy impacts, with a focus on marginalized communities. Key research areas include energy justice, wellbeing measurement, and regulatory disparities in remote regions. Dr White has collaborated with government, industry, and community partners on projects funded by Australian organizations.

Current projects include developing a holistic wellbeing-based measure for energy poverty and studying low-income renters' energy transition impacts. She supervises joint PhD programs with international partners and has advised student Anni TAITTO on UK-Australia energy equity research.

Her publications emphasize policy design for sustainable transitions, energy insecurity mitigation, and climate health co-benefits. Grants include the Sydney Horizon Fellowship and a 2024 project on energy poverty measurement funded by DVC Research.
