Leandro Silvera

Leandro Silvera is a distinguished cellist and educator affiliated with the Royal College of Music (RCM). He currently serves as Cello Tutor at the RCM Junior Department and Head of Strings and Chamber Music at Eton College since 2018. Previously, he was Head of Chamber Music at the RCM Junior Department (2014–2018) and held roles such as Visiting Tutor in Chamber Music at the Royal Academy of Music. He also leads the National Schools Symphony Orchestra and co-runs a summer cello course with Hannah Roberts.

Education includes a BMus (Honours) and a Diploma in Professional Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music, alongside a postgraduate Diploma in Performance (2003). His career spans performances with renowned orchestras like the BBC Philharmonic and Scottish Chamber Orchestra, complemented by extensive teaching experience at institutions including Chetham’s School of Music and the Bowdoin International Summer Music Festival.

Key awards include a British Council scholarship and RCM’s highest performing award. His teaching focuses on cello technique, chamber music collaboration, and orchestral performance, reflecting his dual commitment to performance excellence and pedagogy.
