Leah Levac

Leah Levac is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Critical Community Engagement and Public Policy at the University of Guelph's Department of Political Science. She holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of New Brunswick and a B.Ed from Queen’s University.

Her research focuses on critical community engaged scholarship (CES) and public policy, emphasizing how CES can amplify marginalized communities' knowledges. Key areas include deliberative democracy, anticolonial frameworks, intersectionality, and federal impact assessments for resource projects. She advocates for policy reforms to center the voices of often-invisible groups like Indigenous women and northern communities.

Levac has received the Ontario Ministry of Research, Innovation and Science Early Researcher Award (2017–2022). Her work bridges theory and practice through collaborative projects on participatory policymaking and gender-based analysis in environmental governance.

She teaches and mentors students in political science, encouraging engagement with intersectional and decolonial approaches to policy. Her office is located at MCKN 537 - W25, and she maintains an active Twitter presence @leahlevac.
