About
Lea Rahman is a researcher at the University of Augsburg pursuing her doctorate in International Relations through the Graduate School for Humanities and Social Sciences, while simultaneously working as an Expert at EAF Berlin on the 'Together Against Sexism' alliance project where she handles public relations, event organization, and networking.
Her academic work centers on the intersections of discrimination and inequality with environmental appropriation, spanning Gender Studies, Political Science, Social Justice, Climate Justice, Feminist Theory, and Post-Colonial Studies. Rahman examines how systems of oppression interconnect across feminist approaches, (post-)colonial frameworks, and climate justice movements.
Her recent publication 'How environmental protection and gender equality are connected' (June 2024) exemplifies her transdisciplinary approach, revealing connections between ecological policy and social justice frameworks. This work continues her scholarly trajectory that began with her Master's thesis 'Dependent Extractivism' published with Tectum Wissenschaftsverlag.
Rahman earned her Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences with focus on global justice from the University of Augsburg (2020) and completed her Master's in Political Science at Freie Universität Berlin (2023). Her academic journey includes research positions, tutoring at University of Augsburg, editorial work at Freie Universität Berlin, and the Young DGAP Fellowship at the German Council on Foreign Relations.
