Lea Fortmann is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Puget Sound. Her work bridges environmental economics and international sustainable development, informed by field research in Ethiopia, Guatemala, and Zambia.
Education:
- BA in Economics from Gonzaga University (2003)
- MPA in Environmental Policy from University of Washington (2007)
- PhD in Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics from Ohio State University (2014)
Research Interests:
Fortmann investigates the socioeconomic impacts of environmental policies, including water infrastructure in rural Ethiopia, community-based forest management in Guatemala, and aquaculture development in Zambia. Her work integrates applied microeconomics, policy analysis, and resource management frameworks.
