Lav Varshney

Lav R. Varshney is an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering since 2014. He holds joint affiliations in Computer Science, Neuroscience, Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering, Digital Agriculture, and Personalized Nutrition, as well as the Discovery Partners Institute of the University of Illinois System. Additionally, he serves as a Computational Scientist in the Computational Science Initiative at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, NY.

• Education: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (2010), E.E. (2008), S.M. (2006) from MIT; B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (2004) from Cornell University

Dr. Varshney's research spans interdisciplinary domains including artificial intelligence, information theory, network science, neuroscience, and the history/sociology of science. His work bridges computational methods with applications in diverse scientific fields.
