Laurent Quenelle is a Violin Tutor at the Guildhall School of Music's Strings, Harp & Guitar department. Born in 1970, he began violin studies at age three and trained at French conservatoires before advancing to Washington University (USA) and the Paris Conservatoire (1st prizes in violin and chamber music). He later studied under David Takeno at Guildhall. Since 1996, he has been a permanent member of the London Symphony Orchestra and serves as concermaster for ensembles like the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique and Scottish Ensemble.
His chamber music collaborations include work with François Leleux, Gordan Nikolic, Edgar Meyer, and Vladimir Ashkenazy (Decca recordings). He co-founded the European Camerata in 1995 and performs with groups like the Nash Ensemble and Oxalys. As a soloist, he has performed with the Seattle Philharmonic and London Chamber Orchestra, accompanied by pianist Tom Blach.
