Lauren Wilson

Lauren Wilson is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at the University of South Carolina, within the Department of Theatre and Dance, part of the Mccausland College of Arts and Sciences. She specializes in physical performance styles, ensemble creation, and teaches courses such as physical acting, mask performance, and commedia dell’arte.

Education:

• MFA in Theatre, Sarah Lawrence College
• Bachelor’s degree from Reed College

Research & Practice: Wilson’s work focuses on interdisciplinary physical theatre, ensemble-based creation, and the integration of movement and voice techniques. She has directed, written, and performed in productions with the Dell'Arte Company and collaborated internationally with theatre groups in Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Canada, and Europe. Her plays are published by Dramatists Play Service and the Vintage anthology Laugh Lines.

Teaching & Experience: She taught at Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre (as School Director for five years), SUNY, Humboldt State University, and others. Her pedagogical contributions include curriculum development for MFA and professional training programs.

Collaborations: Engaged with global theatre ensembles, emphasizing cross-cultural performance practices.
