Laurel V. Walsh

Colonel Laurel V. Walsh serves as the U.S. Space Force Chair at the National Defense University and holds the rank of Assistant Professor at the Dwight D. Eisenhower School located at Fort McNair, Washington D.C. Previously, she served on the Headquarters Space Staff as Director of Joint and National Security Council Matters, overseeing the formulation and communication of military advice for joint operations. With a career spanning over two decades, Colonel Walsh has commanded space operations units at squadron and group levels, and held roles on the Air Staff, Joint Staff, and within the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Her educational background includes a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College, a Master of Science in International Relations from Troy State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Political Science from The Ohio State University. Her expertise integrates strategic military planning with interdisciplinary academic contributions in defense strategy and national security.
