Laura Schaposnik

Laura Schaposnik is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Illinois Chicago, where she has held a faculty position since 2015. Her research focuses on geometric properties of mathematical spaces with applications spanning theoretical physics to social sciences.

Research Interests: Dr. Schaposnik specializes in moduli spaces of decorated bundles, particularly Higgs bundles and Hitchin systems. Her work integrates algebraic and differential geometry, Lie theory, representation theory, and string theory. Recently, she has expanded into interdisciplinary applications including virology and social cohesion modeling, exploring geometric insights, symmetries, patterns, and network theory approaches to complex systems.
