About
Laura Patel is a Principal Teaching Fellow in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London's Faculty of Natural Sciences. She leads initiatives in laboratory learning, curriculum innovation, and sustainable teaching practices, with a focus on modernizing undergraduate chemistry education through active learning and authentic assessment. Her research bridges chemistry education and inorganic synthesis, particularly main group molecular systems.
- Education: PhD in Inorganic Synthesis (2011) and MSci Chemistry (2006), both from Imperial College London. Postgraduate Diploma in University Learning and Teaching (2016).
She spearheaded a curriculum review (2018–2023) that redefined degree objectives and introduced new modules. As co-developer of the ChemTrack project (awarded a £100k grant in 2017), she advanced investigative lab experiments and digital learning tools.
