Laura Nelson

Laura Nelson is a Lecturer in Tourism and Events at the University of Sunderland, with a PhD in wellbeing, festivals, and events. She serves as Deputy Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) International Tourism and Hospitality Management and leads modules across undergraduate and postgraduate programs in tourism, hospitality, and events. Her qualifications include a first-class BA (Hons) Events Management from the University of Sunderland, a distinction in MSc Tourism and Events, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Research Interests: Focuses on wellbeing in festivals, digital technologies in the visitor economy, festival/event impacts, tourism sustainability, heritage tourism, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions). Her work explores how festivals influence attendee wellbeing and the integration of technology in tourism management.
