Laura Muro, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Business and Economics at Saint Louis University-Madrid. She holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and Auditing from Complutense University (Spain), a Master in Finance & Economic Management from Centro de Estudios Financieros, and a Bachelor's in Business Administration & Economics from the University of Oviedo. Her research focuses on sustainable finance, corporate governance, ESG initiatives, and accounting practices in emerging markets. Muro has been recognized with the Distinguished Faculty Award (2021) and is a Fellow of the European Academy of Management (EURAM). She serves as an Associated Editor of the Journal of Applied Accounting Research and an Honorary Fellow at the Hanken Centre for Accounting, Finance and Governance. Her work frequently addresses gender diversity impacts on earnings quality, ESG's role in firm value, and the integration of international accounting standards.
Her academic contributions include over 15 peer-reviewed publications in journals like Gender in Management (JCR 3.337) and Research in International Business and Finance (JCR 6.143). She has secured grants totaling €3,760 for projects on female leadership and ESG drivers. Muro also pioneered the course Transitioning to a Sustainable World (2022-23), earning a Core Curricular Innovation Fellowship. Her global engagement includes panel participation at United Nations conferences on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 8 & 9) and presentations at international congresses in Turkey and Austria.
Muro's research bridges theory and practice, addressing both institutional challenges (e.g., financial inclusion determinants) and corporate governance innovations.
