Laura Lubniewski is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at the University at Buffalo's School of Architecture and Planning. She holds a BS in Architecture (2011) from UB and an MA in Architecture (2015) from MIT. Her work focuses on low-tech sustainable housing, passive house design, and collaborative owner-designer relationships.
Professional Experience: Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC®) and NCARB Certified architect. Previously practiced at Wendel Companies and eco_logic STUDIO, contributing to projects like PUSH Buffalo's West Side Homes and Canalside's Solar Carousel Building. Currently serves as Chair of AIA Buffalo/WNY Emerging Professionals Committee.
Teaching: Held positions at Boston Architectural College (2012), MIT (2014), and UB (2017-2021). Facilitated workshops at the Global Student Leaders Summit in Reykjavik (2016). Research interests include occupant-built housing models and resilient architectural practices.
