Laura Fregonese

Laura Fregonese is a Lecturer in the Division of Nursing and Paramedic Science at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. She is also affiliated with the Lydia Plus Osteoporosis Project (LOP), focusing on osteoporosis awareness and its implications for clinical practices. Her clinical background includes over three decades of nursing experience across acute care, perioperative practice, and long-term care in Italy and Scotland. She currently practices in trauma theatres at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh while maintaining an academic role.

Education: Registered adult nurse (University of Milan, 1992), MSc in Advanced Practice (perioperative care, 2017). Professional qualifications include SPQ in perioperative practice (2007), SVQ Level 3 in Human Resource Management (2010), and part-time PhD candidacy at Glasgow Caledonian University’s SHIP research team, investigating patient experiences in infection isolation settings.

Research interests emphasize person-centred care, infection control, antimicrobial resistance, and osteoporosis as a public health priority. She collaborates with LOP to integrate osteoporosis considerations into healthcare practices. Methodologies include qualitative research and interpretative phenomenological analysis.
