Laura Baxter is a Lecturer and Course Leader at the University of Cumbria, Institute of Arts, specializing in interdisciplinary education that bridges creative industries with media production. She has a distinguished academic background, including a 1st class BA Fine Art from the University of Leeds, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Distinction from Bretton Hall, and an MA in Museum Studies with Merit from the University of Newcastle's International Centre for Culture and Heritage Studies (ICCHS).

Laura's research focuses on the intersection of creative and cultural industries, creative entrepreneurship, and community arts, with an emphasis on social enterprise, cultural tourism, and the role of museums and galleries in arts education. She has extensive experience in work-based learning and has led innovative educational programs, including managing the National Arts Learning Network and a decade-long leadership of an Event Management degree course that produced industry-ready graduates.
Her teaching expertise spans project management, marketing and publicity, finance and fundraising, legislation and insurance, and professional development. She currently leads the BA Wildlife Media degree, leveraging Cumbria's unique environment to combine biodiversity studies with media production skills like photography and filmmaking.
