Laura Artesani

Dr. Laura Artesani is an Associate Professor in the Division of Music at the University of Maine, specializing in Music Education and Piano. She advises the University of Maine's Collegiate NAfME chapter and serves as collaborative pianist for ensembles like the University Singers and Recital Lab. Her roles include teaching Music Education, Music History, and accompanying students in performances.

She holds a B.M. (summa cum laude) from Barrington College, M.M. in Piano Performance from the University of Maine, and a D.M.A. in Piano Performance from West Virginia University, where she received the Swiger Teaching Fellowship for four years. Her research interests focus on Orff Schulwerk pedagogy, evidenced by a grant from the American Orff Schulwerk Association and publications in journals like Journal for Music Teacher Education and The Orff Echo.

Dr. Artesani has performed internationally, collaborating with artists such as Dr. Beth Wiemann (International Clarinet Fest) and Dr. Jack Burt (Schagerl Brass Festival, Austria). Beyond academia, she serves as organist/pianist at the Church of Universal Fellowship in Orono and has taught at schools including Lincoln School (RI) and Stillwater Montessori School (ME).
