Larry Walker is an Assistant Professor and Academic Program Coordinator at the University of Central Florida’s College of Community Innovation and Education, within the Department of Educational Leadership and Higher Education. Previously, he served as a lecturer at Loyola University Maryland and held a faculty appointment at Howard University. He holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from Morgan State University.
His research focuses on three core areas: 1) the impact of leadership and policy decisions on education and societal outcomes; 2) the experiences of Black students across the education pipeline (PreK-PhD); and 3) strategies to recruit and retain minoritized teachers in K-12 and higher education settings. His work has been featured in peer-reviewed journals, books, and media platforms such as regional/national television networks and the Orlando Sentinel.
Dr. Walker has co-edited two books, authored/coauthored several journal articles and book chapters, and served as Legislative Director for former Congressman Major R. Owens. His expertise spans leadership, race, and policy research, with a particular emphasis on equity in education systems.
