Elizabeth Guerrero Lyons

Dr. Elizabeth Guerrero Lyons serves as an Assistant Professor and Associate Director for Leadership in Rural Medicine at Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine, where she also directs Diversity Recruitment initiatives.

Her academic credentials include:

• Ed.D. in K-12 Administration from Michigan State University
• MA in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education Administration from Michigan State University

Her research focuses on dismantling systemic barriers in higher education through multicultural pedagogy, targeted mentorship for racially minoritized students, and specialized precollege programming for Latinx and Indigenous pre-health candidates. Grounded in her multicultural upbringing, her work directly addresses preparation gaps for students from under-resourced educational backgrounds.

She leads institutional teams for Diversity Recruitment and the Leadership in Rural Medicine program, developing pipelines to increase representation of marginalized communities in medical education and practice.
