Larry Rohde

Larry Rohde, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL), within the College of Science and Engineering. His research focuses on molecular and developmental biology, with emphasis on apoptosis regulation, protein-protein interactions, transcription control, and protein modification. He has held continuous academic roles at UHCL since at least 1999, supported by multiple grants including NIH awards and collaborations with institutions like the USDA and NASA.

Education & Training:

• Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at UT Health Science Center Houston (1991-1994), supported by an American Legion Auxiliary Predoctoral Fellowship.
• Postdoctoral Research at Stanford Medical Center (1996-1998), funded by an NIH F32 Individual National Research Service Award.

Research Interests: Dr. Rohde's work spans cellular mechanisms in radiation biology, cancer therapy resistance, and uterine-fetal interface biology. He investigates how proteins like 53BP2 interact with p53 to regulate apoptosis, and explores glycosaminoglycan roles in cell adhesion during reproduction.
