Larissa Povey

Dr. Larissa Povey is a Senior Lecturer and Criminology Course Leader at Sheffield Hallam University. She holds a BA from Sheffield Hallam University, an MA from the University of Sheffield, and a PhD from Sheffield Hallam.

Her research examines criminal justice policy, welfare conditionality, and their impact on women and families, particularly ethnic minority birth mothers experiencing child removal. She has professional experience in welfare services and served on West Yorkshire Police's domestic abuse advisory panel.

Publications analyze intersections of welfare and criminal justice systems, Universal Credit implementation, and fuel poverty interventions. Research employs qualitative methods to explore policy effects on marginalized groups.

She teaches criminology modules including professional placements, punishment practices, and dissertation supervision.
