Laila Abed

Dr. Laila Abed-Rabho is a Research Fellow at The Harry S. Truman Research Institute, focusing on interdisciplinary studies at the intersection of Islam, gender, women's rights, Palestinian history, and social justice. Her current research examines the role of women journalists in East Jerusalem as potential agents of societal change.

Using mixed methodologies of in-depth interviews and media content analysis, Dr. Abed-Rabho investigates how Palestinian women in media navigate patriarchal structures and nationalist conflicts while challenging stereotypical representations of women. Her work addresses systemic underrepresentation in editorial leadership and the persistence of oppressive narratives in Palestinian media.
