Kyle Barker

Kyle Barker is a Lecturer in the School of Architecture at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). He founded Primary Projects, an architecture firm focused on communal, affordable, and sustainable housing solutions. His research and practice emphasize innovative materials like straw bale construction and prefabricated systems through collaborations with firms like Croft. He holds an MArch from MIT and a BSID from the University of Cincinnati, and is licensed in four states.

His professional affiliations include membership in the Boston Society for Architecture and co-chairing the Small Practices Network Knowledge Community. Recipient of the Rotch Traveling Scholarship, Barker researched collective housing in Europe, Australia, and Japan. His work bridges academic teaching, professional practice, and advocacy for equitable living environments.
