Krontiras Christoforos

Professor Christoforos Krontiras is affiliated with the Department of Physics at the University of Patras, Greece, where he has held academic positions since 1982. He received his B.Sc. (1981) and Ph.D. (1989) in Physics from the University of Patras. His professional journey includes roles such as Research Associate (1982–1989), Lecturer (1990–1995), Assistant Professor (1995–2003), and Associate Professor (2003–2009) before becoming a full Professor in 2009. He is part of the Condensed Matter Division and has extensive experience in semiconductor research and nanotechnology.

His research focuses on electrical and dielectric properties of materials, including semiconductors, nanocomposites, and thin films. Notable areas include: (1) conductivity mechanisms in metals and semiconductors, (2) nanomaterials synthesis (e.g., ZnO nanowires, graphene-based materials), (3) polymer-based functional composites, and (4) interface engineering for solar cells and electronic devices. He has supervised over 50 B.Sc., 10 M.Sc., and 9 Ph.D. theses.

Recent studies involve atomic layer deposition (ALD) for semiconductor passivation, cold plasma applications in environmental engineering, and energy-efficient photovoltaic technologies. Collaborations span interdisciplinary topics such as biomedical nanocomposites and plasma sterilization of biosolids.
