Kristin Gjerdset

Kristin Gjerdset is Professor of Art at Wisconsin Lutheran College, where she chairs the Chemistry Department and manages the Schlueter Art Gallery. Her teaching portfolio spans fundamental and advanced courses including Basic Drawing, Painting, Art History, Watercolor, and Senior Seminar. She integrates interdisciplinary approaches through courses like Anatomy for the Artist and Animal Anatomy.

Her artistic research explores intimate perspectives of natural environments, particularly minute flora and fauna often overlooked in landscapes. This focus manifests through detailed biological illustrations and environmental art aimed at fostering stewardship. She facilitates professional development through national/international student field trips to locations including Norway, Costa Rica, and Iceland, with select students invited to participate in state and national park residencies.

Recognition includes multiple Artist-in-Residence awards from U.S. National Parks and nature preserves, with exhibitions at institutions such as Miller Art Museum and Plymouth Art Center. Her scholarly works include the publication 'Recent Applications of the Simple Hydrocarbon Cyclooctatetrene' in Mini-reviews in Organic Chemistry.
