Dr. Kristi Holsinger serves as the Senior Vice Provost for Student Success and a Professor in the Criminal Justice and Criminology Department at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). She has been on faculty since 1999 and holds a B.A. in Sociology from Aquinas College (1990), an M.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati (1995), and a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati (1999).
Her research focuses on understanding systemic experiences of adolescent females in justice systems, policies for girls and women in correctional settings, and innovations in criminal justice education. She pioneered a youth mentoring course and service learning projects with Jackson County Family Court. Her work emphasizes PREA standards implementation and pedagogical strategies in criminal justice programs.
Dr. Holsinger has authored two books: Teaching Justice (2012) and Toward Justice (2017, co-authored with Dr. Lori Sexton). She has also published over 30 academic articles and presented at 50+ conferences.
