Kimberly F. Monroe

Kimberly F. Monroe serves as a Visiting and Part-Time Faculty member, focusing on African American Studies and the global African Diaspora. Her research emphasizes Africana women’s activism, Black internationalism, and Pan-Africanism, alongside explorations of Hip Hop and Africana literature. She is currently developing a manuscript titled The Black Underground: Assata Shakur and Global Freedom Struggles.

Education:

• Ph.D. in African Diaspora Studies (Howard University)
• Minor in African History and Women's Studies

Research Interests: Monroe’s work bridges historical and contemporary movements, examining transnational solidarity among Black communities. She investigates how cultural expressions like Hip Hop intersect with political activism, particularly through the lens of global freedom struggles.

Personal Interests: Enjoys photography, museum visits, and travel within the Black world to deepen her scholarly and cultural understanding.
