Khyati Pathak is a Research Assistant Professor in the Early Detection and Prevention Division at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), where she serves as Head of the Metabolomics unit since 2021. Her leadership focuses on developing novel analytical assays and executing collaborative metabolomics research projects.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Sardar Patel University, India, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Minnesota with Dr. Turesky and at TGen with Dr. Pirrotte.
Dr. Pathak's research utilizes untargeted and quantitative metabolomics/lipidomics to investigate metabolic deregulation in cancer, neurological disorders, and infectious diseases. Current priorities include studying polyamine metabolism's role in reversing energy deregulation in medulloblastoma and biomonitoring environmental toxicants through exposome analysis to assess human health impacts. Her work aims to advance early disease detection, progression prediction, and therapeutic target identification.
As Head of the Metabolomics unit, she has developed over 15 validated mass spectrometry assays for metabolite quantification and conducts large-scale cohort studies on clinical and non-clinical samples. Her team's analytical frameworks support cross-disciplinary research in pathological condition characterization and biomarker discovery.
