Kevin Roxas

Kevin Roxas is a Professor and Dean of the Woodring College of Education at Western Washington University. He holds a PhD from Michigan State University (2008), with prior degrees from the University of Notre Dame (BA, 1992) and the University of San Francisco (MA, 2000). His research focuses on educational equity for immigrant/refugee youth, identity formation under systemic oppression, and preparing educators to address these challenges. He has published in top journals like Harvard Educational Review and won major awards including the 2023 Pritchy Smith Multicultural Educator of the Year Award.

Dr. Roxas has pioneered the use of photovoice projects to empower immigrant youth and families, emphasizing culturally responsive practices. His work bridges theory and practice, advocating for systemic change in multicultural education. He has presented internationally at institutions like Seoul National University and collaborates across disciplines to address intersectional educational barriers.
