Kevin Miescke

Kevin Miescke serves as a Teaching Assistant Professor of Music Theory at the University of Nevada, Reno's Department of Music since 2018. He previously taught at Eastern Illinois University as an instructor of horn and music history. His primary professional focus is performing as a French hornist with orchestras and chamber groups nationwide.

Education: Doctor of Music (Indiana University, 2016), Master of Music (University of Texas at Austin, 2012), Bachelor of Arts in Music Education (University of Nevada, Reno, 2009).

Research & Performance: Miescke is a core member of the Skylark Horn Quartet, which premieres new works and collaborates across genres (e.g., concerto with Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra, works with DJ/guitar fusion). He co-founded the Reno Modern Brass, promoting contemporary music tied to Nevada's cultural history. Active orchestral roles include the Reno Philharmonic, San Antonio Symphony, and others.

Key Projects: Commissions include a horn quartet concerto and collaborations blending classical with modern instrumentation. The Skylark Quartet has performed internationally at events like Germany's Frankenwald Brass Festival.
