Kerman Calvo Borobia is a Full Professor and Secretary of the Department of Sociology and Communication at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Salamanca.
Dr. Calvo Borobia earned his PhD in Sociology from the University of Essex (UK) and is a Fellow of the Juan March Institute. He joined the Department of Sociology and Communication at the University of Salamanca in 2010, after previously working at the University of Essex (Human Rights Centre), UOC, Carlos III University, Pompeu Fabra University, and the Centre for Political and Constitutional Studies as a García Pelayo researcher.
His primary research focuses on Social movements and LGBTI studies, with significant contributions to understanding political sociology, voting behavior, and equality issues. Dr. Calvo Borobia's work examines how social movements operate in global contexts and addresses identity politics and social change.
Dr. Calvo Borobia has received significant recognition including three six-year research terms from the CNEAI (National Council of Spanish Research) and membership in the Sociological Analysis Group directed by Modesto Escobar at the University of Salamanca.
He currently teaches Social and Political Movements in a Globalizing World (Bachelor's Degree in Global Studies and Political Science), Political Protest (Master's Degree in Political Science), and Introduction to Sociology (Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology).
His scholarly publications have appeared in prestigious journals including Social Movement Studies, Sexualities, South European Society and Politics, Revista Estudios Políticos, Revista Española de Sociología, Revista Internacional de Sociología, and Revista Española de Investigaciones Sociológicas.
