Ken Spurgeon serves as an Assistant Professor of History at Friends University. Previously, he worked as an Adjunct Professor at the same institution since 2010, alongside roles in education and film production.
- Education: B.A. and M.A. in History from Wichita State University, with additional coursework in Secondary Education Social Studies.
His research and creative work focus on American History, particularly Civil War narratives and Kansas regional history, as evidenced by his master’s thesis-turned-book and documentary filmmaking. He founded Lone Chimney Films Inc. in 2004, producing award-winning historical documentaries, including two recipients of the Western Heritage Award (Wrangler), and a docudrama aired on PBS stations.
