Kenneth Reeds

Professor Kenneth Reeds serves as Chairperson of the Department of World Languages and Cultures at Salem State University. His academic career spans teaching and research in Spanish and comparative literature.

His research examines intercultural intersections between Spanish-speaking and English-language cultures through:

• Twentieth- and twenty-first-century prose
• Magical realism definitions and applications
• Literary amplification of marginalized voices
• Postcolonial discourse in Latin American literature
• Spain-Asturias and US Latino cultural analysis

Recent publications focus on magical realism’s theoretical challenges and urban representation in Latin American literature. He teaches courses across Spanish language, literature, and cultural studies, including senior thesis seminars and graduate-level research monograph projects.
