Kelly Trumbull is an Artist Lecturer in Acting at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Music and the University of Pittsburgh’s Theatre Arts Department. She specializes in creating inclusive spaces for emerging performing artists, blending education with professional theater practice. Trumbull holds a BFA in Acting from Syracuse University and an MA in Educational Theater from NYU.
Her research interests focus on youth theater development, playwriting, and accessible pedagogy for performing arts. Notable works include her original play *Morning Reckoning*, a 1990s-set 8th-grade fangirl drama directed and written by her, which premiered at New Hazlett Theater in 2023. She has directed productions for Pittsburgh Playhouse Jr., Pitt Stages, and Point Park University.
Trumbull collaborates with Pittsburgh’s theater ecosystem, including City Theatre Company, Pittsburgh Public Theater, and Bricolage. She has also taught in NYC with organizations like NYU’s Looking for Shakespeare and Wingspan Arts. Her professional memberships include Actor’s Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA.
