Kelly Matthews

Kelly Matthews serves as Professor in the English Department at Framingham State University, holding key leadership positions as Secondary Education Coordinator, Interdisciplinary Studies Advisor/Coordinator, and Director of the Framingham Teacher Residency AmeriCorps Program—a collaborative initiative between FSU and Framingham Public Schools.

Her research specializes in Irish Literature and Identity representation, examining cultural narratives through publications like The Bell Magazine and the Representation of Irish Identity (2012) and forthcoming work on Brian Friel's early career. She actively bridges academic scholarship with practical teacher preparation through courses in Irish literature and teacher education.

Dr. Matthews supervises middle and high school English student teachers while directing the Teacher Residency Program, which provides an intensive alternative certification pathway through year-long classroom residencies.
