Kelly Hoffer

Kelly Hoffer is the Helen Zell Visiting Professor in Poetry at the University of Michigan's Department of English Language and Literature. She holds an MFA in Poetry from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and a PhD in Literatures in English from Cornell University.

Her interdisciplinary scholarship spans visual culture, cultural studies, and Asian American studies, with current research focusing on graphic narratives and comics studies. Hoffer examines how Asian American creators represent racial identity through visual-textual forms.

Her poetry collection UNDERSHORE explores lyrical forms and experimental structures, while her critical writing analyzes representation in comics and film. Publications demonstrate consistent engagement with visual-textual relationships across media.
