Kelly Anderson is a Lecturer in the Program for the Study of Women and Gender and Director of the Archives Concentration at Smith College. She previously served as an oral historian in Smith’s Special Collections. Her academic roles emphasize archival research and oral history methodologies.
Education: Ph.D. from City University of New York, M.A. from Sarah Lawrence College, and B.A. from University of California, Santa Cruz.
Research focuses on women’s activism, sexual liberation movements, and public history. Notable projects include the Voices of Feminism, An Activist Life, and documentation initiatives like Noho Pride and Documenting Lesbians’ Lives. Current work involves an oral history project capturing narratives of long-time gender and sexual liberation activists.
Teaching emphasizes archival research and oral history practices. Office hours in Fall 2023: Monday 2–4 p.m.
