Keerthinathan Pirunthan is a Lecturer (Probationary) in the Engineering Technology department at the University of Jaffna and a PhD Researcher at QUT’s Centre for Robotics. He holds a first-class honors degree in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, where he previously worked at the UAV lab developing payload systems for VTOL drones. He co-founded AGX ONE (Pvt) Ltd., a startup commercializing a patented crop-dusting drone for Sri Lankan agriculture.
Education: BEng (Electronic & Telecommunication Engineering) – University of Moratuwa (first-class honors). Current PhD research focuses on robotics and drone technology applications.
Research Interests: Specializes in drone technology integration across agriculture, environmental monitoring, and disaster management. Expertise includes embedded systems, control systems, and AI-driven remote sensing.

- Gold Medal for Covid-19 Innovation (Sri Lanka Medical Association)
- Chairman’s Award for Innovation (Vocational Training Authority Sri Lanka)
Advising & Grants: Co-founded AGX ONE to commercialize drone solutions for agriculture. Previously developed patented crop-dusting drones and rotary motor configurations. Current research aligns with wildfire management and vegetation analysis via drones.
Lab Affiliations: Formerly affiliated with the UAV lab at University of Moratuwa’s ENTC department. Currently part of QUT’s Centre for Robotics.
