Kaylee Magee

Kaylee Magee is a Lecturer in the Department of Biology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University's Faculty of Science and Technology. She previously served as a Graduate Facilitator at Simon Fraser University's Student Learning Commons and as a Visiting Life Sciences Instructor at Quest University in Squamish, BC.

• BSc in Biology from Simon Fraser University
• PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University

Her research focuses on conformational dynamics of ion channels, particularly potassium pacemaker channels and calcium channels implicated in inherited migraine disorders. She utilizes electrophysiology techniques like voltage clamp fluorometry to investigate cellular mechanisms underlying cardiac and neurological functions.

At SFU, she developed personalized learning strategies for students on academic probation and supported undergraduates and graduates in writing skill development. She has taught courses including BIOL 1110, BIOL 1112, BIOL 1210, BIOL 2321, BIOL 2421, and BIOL 3421.

In addition to her research contributions, Kaylee has extensive experience in academic mentorship and curriculum development, emphasizing the importance of cellular machinery in biological systems.
