Kayla Wanamaker

Kayla Wanamaker is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at Carleton University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from Carleton University (2020), completed under the supervision of Dr. Brown at the Gender and Crime Research Lab.

Her research focuses on strengths-based approaches and gender-informed strategies within criminal justice systems, emphasizing mixed-methods designs to explore: 1) integrating strengths into risk assessment and case management, 2) trauma's relationship with adverse childhood experiences and antisocial behavior, and 3) culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed intervention strategies. Her work prioritizes holistic correctional programming that addresses systemic inequities.
