Kayla D. Robinson is a faculty member and School Director at Missouri State University, affiliated with the College of Education and the School of Special Education, Leadership and Professional Studies. With a PhD in Reading from the University of Arkansas–Little Rock and advanced degrees in Reading and Elementary Education, she has mentored students and taught courses in literacy instruction, assessment, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
Her research focuses on:
- Culturally authentic Native American literature for children and young adults
- Representation of Native Americans in elementary social studies curricula
- Effective interventions for struggling readers
- Preservice teacher education and preparation
Dr. Robinson has received multiple awards for teaching excellence, mentorship, and online course design, including the 2024 Judy Award for Interdisciplinary Collaboration and the 2022 Bear Bridge Outstanding Mentor Award. She also coordinates graduate programs in Special Education and Educational Technology Leadership.
