Kay Sidebottom

Dr Kay Sidebottom is a Lecturer in Education and programme lead for the MSc Education at the University of Stirling. Their academic work focuses on posthuman approaches to education, anti-fascist pedagogies, democratic education, and interdisciplinary learning. They hold a PhD exploring posthuman curriculum theory through philosophy and artistic practice, advocating for 21st-century educational reimagining.

Current roles include guest tutoring at the Posthuman Summer School (University of Utrecht) and editing a special issue on posthuman education for Cultural and Pedagogical Inquiry. They serve as external examiner for BA Studies in Primary Education at Newman University and BA Action on Poverty and Hardship at Staffordshire University.

Research interests emphasize posthumanism, new materialism, and social justice. Their work critiques traditional human-centric educational frameworks, advocating for inclusive, multispecies pedagogies informed by Deleuze-Guattari theory and feminist materialism. Recent publications explore themes like place-responsive outdoor education, multispecies ethics, and post-pandemic learning paradigms.
