Dr Kavyta Raghunandan is a Senior Lecturer in Race and Education at Leeds Beckett University, based in the Carnegie School of Education. She leads and teaches on the MA Race, Education and Decoloniality programme and contributes broadly to undergraduate, masters and doctoral supervision across Education Studies.

Her research is rooted in intersectional and decolonial frameworks that interrogate race, gender and identity. She critically examines representation, anti-racist pedagogies and South Asian identities across education, cultural industries (comedy, graphic novels, museums) and green spaces. Recent scholarly directions extend to digital sociology and Caribbean contexts.
Dr Raghunandan’s teaching portfolio spans modules such as Decolonial Thought and Critical Race Theory, Critical Ethnic Studies, Mixed-Race Lives and dissertation supervision at both master’s and doctoral levels.
