Katy Rankin

Katy Rankin is a Senior Enterprise Fellow at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the Bioengineering Group. Her research spans interdisciplinary fields including bioengineering, materials science, and paleontology.

Research Interests: Katy's work focuses on advanced imaging techniques (e.g., X-ray computed tomography), 3D printing of functional devices, structural analysis of composite materials, and evolutionary morphological studies. She has contributed to diverse domains such as environmental science, chemical engineering, and biomedical applications.

Publications highlight recent advancements in digital volume correlation, chemical reactor characterization, and fossilized coelacanth analysis. Notably, her 2025 article on foraminifera scanning sets methodological benchmarks in paleontology.
