Katja Hallenberg

Dr Katja Hallenberg is a Principal Lecturer in Policing at Canterbury Christ Church University, serving as Deputy Director of Policing since joining in 2012. She is affiliated with the Applied Criminology, Forensic Investigation and Sociology department and teaches across policing, criminology, and criminal psychology disciplines.

Her educational background includes:

• BSc in Psychology and Criminology from the University of Teesside
• MSc in Investigative Psychology from the University of Liverpool
• PhD in 'Police Professionalisation via Academic Education' from the University of Manchester

Dr Hallenberg's research spans policing, criminology, criminal psychology, sustainability, and equity and diversity. Her doctoral work focused on police professionalisation through academic education, and she continues advancing interdisciplinary research with strong commitments to inclusive practices in policing and academia.

As Deputy Director of Policing, she oversees undergraduate and postgraduate course operations while actively developing interdisciplinary research culture and university-wide equity initiatives.

She is a core member of CCCU's Policing Team, contributing to strategic development and delivery of policing education programs at all academic levels.
