Kathy Doherty is a Professor and Head of Programme Area for Postgraduate Research at the Culture and Creativity Research Institute (C3RI) within Sheffield Hallam University. She chairs the College of Business, Technology and Engineering Research Degrees Committee and serves as Deputy Chair of the University Research Degrees Sub-committee. Her academic background is in Social Psychology, with a focus on discourse analysis applied to gender, communication, and cultural studies.
Her research explores topics such as sexual violence accountability, gendered identity in online communities, and the intersection of music culture with consumer behavior. She has supervised over 15 PhD students, guiding diverse topics ranging from gender in cultural industries to software programming discourse.
