Kathryn A. Catlin

Dr. Kathryn A. Catlin is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Archaeology at Jacksonville State University's Department of Chemistry and Geosciences. Her research focuses on sustainability, environmental justice, and long-term human-environment interactions. She specializes in Norse settlement patterns in Iceland, medieval/early modern landscapes, and colonial impacts in Alabama.

She teaches courses in archaeology, anthropology, and geospatial techniques, including a graduate-level field school at Bains Gap village site. Her NSF-funded work in Iceland examines small Norse dwellings' ecological impacts and connections to powerful settlers. Collaborations include the Skagafjörður Church and Settlement Survey and Heritage Museum.
