About
Dr. Kathrin Wuensch is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Warwick's Department of Physics, affiliated with the Physics Centre for Fusion, Space and Astrophysics. Her position is funded by AWE, under the supervision of Dirk O. Gericke. She commenced her role on 1st October 2011, focusing on calculating ion structure in dense matter through theoretical and computational methods.
Her research interests include plasma physics diagnostics via x-ray Thomson scattering (XRTS), high-density warm dense matter, and structural properties of multi-component plasmas. She contributed to advancing XRTS as a diagnostic tool for high-energy-density materials, particularly in mixed-material environments.
Her PhD, completed at the University of Warwick in 2012, explored the theoretical framework for XRTS in warm dense matter, leveraging quantum simulations and classical models to analyze ion-ion correlations and electron screening. This work demonstrated XRTS's potential to probe complex material mixtures and plasma dynamics.
Contact details include her office (PS120) and telephone (+44 (0) 24765 73874) at the University of Warwick's Physics Department.
